Skin in your 30s is different from skin in your teens. You might still break out, but now you're also noticing fine lines around your eyes. Your skin might be drier than it used to be, or oilier, or both. The products that worked at 22 might not be cutting it anymore.
This routine is built specifically for that reality. It covers both morning and night, includes product recommendations at every budget, and explains the why behind each step so you can make informed choices for your specific skin.
The Morning Routine
Your morning routine has two jobs: protect your skin from the day ahead (sun, pollution, blue light) and prep it for whatever you put on top (makeup or nothing at all).
☀️ Morning — 4 Steps
1
Cleanser — If your skin isn't oily, a simple water rinse is fine in the morning. If it is, use your gentle cleanser.
2
Vitamin C Serum — Apply to slightly damp skin. Boosts your SPF and brightens over time. Give it 60 seconds to absorb.
3
Moisturizer — Seal in hydration before SPF. Even if your SPF has moisturizing properties, a dedicated moisturizer under it improves comfort.
4
SPF 30+ (non-negotiable) — Last step, every single morning. This is your most powerful anti-aging tool.

The Night Routine
Your night routine is where the real transformation happens. While you sleep, your skin repairs itself — and the right products amplify that process. You have more flexibility at night because there's no UV to worry about.
🌙 Night — 4 Steps
1
Double Cleanse (if wearing SPF/makeup) — First pass with a cleansing balm or micellar water to remove SPF and makeup. Second pass with your regular cleanser.
2
Exfoliant (2-3x per week only) — Use an AHA or BHA to remove dead skin cells. Do not do this every night.
3
Retinol (on non-exfoliant nights) — Start 2x per week, build to 4-5x. Never use retinol and strong acids on the same night.
4
Rich Moisturizer — Go heavier at night than in the morning. Look for ceramides and peptides to support overnight repair.

The most important rule: Don't use retinol and strong exfoliants (AHA/BHA) on the same night. Alternate them. Retinol Monday, Wednesday, Friday — exfoliant Tuesday, Thursday. Your barrier will thank you.
